Ex-Portsmouth Driving Instructor Arrested

AUGUST 2011, Portsmouth, New Hampshire—A former high school driving instructor who was previously convicted of drunken driving charges and faces a pending DWI charge has now been arrested on an alcohol-related charges of driving while his license was suspended. 63-year-old Bruce Syphers of Greenland was arrested in the parking lot of the Sheraton Harborside Hotel in Portsmouth.

Syphers was previously arrested March 5 in Hampton Falls on the latest DWI charge, and is scheduled for a Sept. 21 trial in Hampton District Court. His license was suspended as a result of that arrest. Syphers' license was also suspended in May 2007, when he pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated on Portsmouth High School property.
